Welcome to Day Four of the July Intensity Project!

31 Days Toward Living with More Intensity & Creativity

Happy Fourth of July to everyone in the U.S.!

This weekend I attended a wedding celebration of two wonderfully intense, passionate young people. I have known the bride for several  years. In fact, I interviewed her for The Smart Teens’ Guide to Living with Intensity, and here is part of what she wrote:

“My learning style is very independent and stubborn, in a way. I need to do things in my own way and on my own terms. I have a hard time understanding something like a process or how to do something from instructions alone or from seeing someone else do it. I need to try to do it and to figure out how it works on my own. Also, I can remember times when I memorized what I needed to in order to pass a class, but retained almost nothing. Then I went back to the text later when the class was finished and actually learned the material. I really have to be into something for it to stick with me. Luckily, I’m into a lot of things.”

She began college at age 16. Of herself, she says, “I don’t consider myself gifted. I consider myself interested.”

She found a life partner who is just as “interested” and passionate as she is. His groom’s cake, made by a family member, was in the shape of a sound mixer (he is a graduate composition student and a composer of electroacoustic and chamber music). I will try to get permission to post a photo of it later. It was amazing.

Because it’s a holiday, the assignment for Day Four of our July Intensity Project is easy: simply think about all the ways you can celebrate the important moments in your life your way, with passion and intensity and creativity.

  1. Lisa – what a fun post! I love weddings because of the incredible leap of faith and hope they involve. As far as celebrations — we’re getting together today with close friends to eat some great food, watch the kids play, and maybe drink a margarita or two. I definitely prefer smaller gatherings!

Also, I’m going to link to your July Intensity project on my blog (Tuesday)–this is such a fun idea. Thanks for doing it!

Kristi, thank you (both for the comment and the link)! Your holiday celebration plans sounds delicious.

I’m more for solitude than celebrating these days. I suppose taking the camera out and shooting “things” are my celebrations, and they don’t require specific dates or occasions to do it. Friday, for instance, I went to a festival and shot hot air balloons. There’s a slideshow of some on my blog above, or on my Flickr account-beamsbydidi.

Sharing stories also makes me happy, and I hope to be doing more of that soon on twitter’s #TuesdaySerial and/or #fridayflash — but there’s just never enough time to write!

Thanks for all the inspiration, Lisa!

DiDi, it’s as if your camera is your companion (like your imagination). :)

I hope to try out the #TuesdaySerial and/or #fridayflash soon. They always look like so much fun, and I love to read what others do!
