This week’s topic: Homeschooling … and not just for homeschoolers. Any parent who is looking for ways to re-ignite the love of learning, whether during the school year or during the long summer months, can use the information in the sites below for ideas and motivation.

1. While not specifically a homeschooling site, Maya Frost’s webpage will inspire anyone to think differently about traditional views of and approaches to education. Read the first chapter of her new book The New Global Student to see what I mean.

2. Ann Zeise’s A to Z Home’s Cool has enough information and resources to keep you reading for days, as well as blogs, chats, and Twitter tweets from Ann. Anyone new to or thinking of homeschooling will appreciate her extensive Beginning to Homeschool links.

3. Hoagies Gifted Education Page’s Homeschooling Gifted Children is another must-bookmark site. Even if your children aren’t identified as gifted, you will find information and resources here that may give you a new perspective or, at the very least, new ideas.

4. Are you curious about the idea of “unschooling” and wonder what it looks like on a day-to-day basis? Take a look at Life Learning magazine’s article “A Week in the Life of an Unschooled Teen,” then browse other free, online articles from the magazine.

5. Finally, if you think homeschooling is in your future, check out Home Education Magazine‘s website, which has a homeschooling FAQ, an interactive reader Q and A, and high quality blogs. You can also order a free trial issue of the snail mail magazine.

Happy learning!
